The pilot project “Sustainability of the HIV services” conducted a training for the administration specialists

May 17-18, 2018 The team of the pilot project “Sustainability of the HIV services” leaded a training “Organisation of the social services within the budgetary funds”. The training was organized for the heads and other members of the local population protection, healthcare and other governmental structures in the field of HIV social and medical support.

The pilot project “Sustainability of the HIV services” that is being realized by the “Way Home” under the support of USAid. The aim of the project is to create a sustainable system of HIV services for the people with high risk of being infected ad people already having HIV.

Natalia Kitsenko, the head of the project noted: «We need to increase the knowledge and form the skills on the processes of organizing of sustainably financed services of HIV/AIDS prevention on a local level». Also, Natalia Kitsenko expressed gratitude to the Directorate of the Social Protection of Odessa region for the active involvement in organizing the training.

As far as the knowledge is concerned, the organizers put emphasis on knowing the legislature of providing social services, provided trainings on the skills of organizing social services on the places (local hospitals and first aid centers), as well as the skills of defining the needs for the services among the local population.  A separate part of the work was dedicated to planning and organizing the financing of the services, social demand, and controlling of the quality of the services provided.

The training was illustrated by the successfully working pilot project in Belgorod-Dnestrovsk and its region. Tatiana Sibirtseva, the head of the healthcare council of the city, mentioned: “This is my first experience as a trainer. With the support of the pilot project, we could implement the social demand into the HIV prevention services in the city and the region.  We are here for you not only as teachers, but as real participants of one of the really working HIV-services. Thanks to the pilot project, we could get this important and experience, that will bring more in the future”.
